Ada-Rhodes Short is an advocate, engineer, and self-proclaimed “queer icon of grace and perfection”. She was the co-founder and President Emeritus of the first LGBTQ student group at Baylor University, the world’s largest Baptist university. While in Texas she focused on fostering communities within the Bible Belt that encouraged and supported gender and sexual exploration.
Currently, she is serving as the facilitator of Corvallis Trans Support and is focusing her energy on building community and combatting issues of homelessness, food instability, and systematic poverty that disproportionately affect the trans and gender non-conforming community. When she is not organizing a potluck, delivering food and clothing donations, or running a support group meeting she is busy in her lab making robot brains and wrapping up her doctorate in mechanical engineering.
